Timeline

Myth: if you do not accomplish all your goals for 2025 by the end of January, you will fail.
You might read that and think, “well that is rather obvious.”
Take a moment and look at the people and teams around you scrambling at an all-out sprint to do all the things at once.

The excitement of a new, fresh direction is deeply motivating.
Your reward function receives incrementally more reward at the idea of a goal than the completion of it.
This creates a behaviour pattern to act with misguided estimates around timelines and resources.

In January, you are highly motivated and jacked up on positive reward neurotransmitters.
Pacing your timeline is essential.
Do not allow the motivational spike to burn resources designed to last a year.
