Thoughtfulness
There are four key phases in generating lasting perspective taking and behaviour change.
Awareness, thoughtfulness, insight, behaviours.
Week 2: thoughtfulness.
Metacognition is a distinct brain function that separates humans from other animals.
It is your ability to think about your thinking.
In fact, right now, reading this sentence and thinking about how you are reading this sentence, requires metacognition.
Thoughtfulness, as an action, represents the integration of metacognition with application and belief-making.
Your brain is designed to leverage cognitive shortcuts (heuristics) whenever possible to conserve energy.
Thoughtfulness is energy inefficient in the short term, but intrinsic to long-term performance.
If you are looking to do your best decision-making, building in capacity for thoughtfulness is essential.
Like taking the time to warm up, stretch, or plan out your week, thoughtfulness is an active state, requiring energetic resourcing.
Thoughtfulness is the gateway to Insight.
