Reset

There is a reason your IT team asks if you tried turning it on and off again before diving into problem-solving mode.
A reset changes your perspective on a problem.
It may not solve the problem outright, but it creates the conditions to generate insight and more clearly see the core issue.

This is why you often have your most genius ideas after resting or doing a simple motor task that takes your mind off the problem.
Your brain, like a computer, needs structured resets to accurately and effectively solve problems.
Alas, pounding coffee while banging your head against the wall in a 4-hour meeting is still not effective.

If you are needing to find clarity in how to solve a problem, start by defining how to build in a reset.
Great leaders know how to create a reset that challenges or reframes their perspective.
More importantly, they are in the habit of actually doing it.
