Mind Wandering

A healthy brain is a dynamically engaged brain.
Sleep, being active, and social time are important states of a healthy brain.
Being focused on a task and actively considering, solving, or interacting with it is equally important.

The challenge is that you experience a surplus of focus-time within your day.
A healthy brain is dynamic; overly leveraging focus-time is static.
Your mind performs at its best when you switch between cognitive states throughout your day.

Time to tune-out is another essential brain state.
Tuning-out is not as easy as turning on Netflix or Candy Crush.
Tuning-out represents a casual lack of focus and mild observation of the things around you.

The state of tuning-out can be captured with the practice of mind wandering.
Mind wandering could be watching the clouds pass by, or observing the drip drop of a brewing coffee machine.
For folks who like to solve and get things done, tuning-out can feel uncomfortable.

Where and when are you giving your brain the time to tune-out this week?
Daydreaming may have gotten you in trouble as a student.
Mind wandering will make you more effective as a leader.
