Cognitive Load

Your brain is constantly evaluating the expected performance of the people and systems around you.
Heuristics drive your brain to evaluate performance based on generalized expectations; this creates space for bias.
The simple reason for this is it saves cognitive energy, a resource your brain is constantly trying to preserve.

This does not mean that fatigue correlates to bias.
It does indicate that overall cognitive load might.
Cognitive stressors, such as workload, contribute to your cognitive load.

Fatigue is the simplest measure you rely on to evaluate your cognitive load.
Unfortunately, it is not the most accurate nor the most impactful measure.
If you want to combat bias, change your behaviours that affect cognitive stressors.
