Observation

Sometimes stating the seemingly obvious is, surprisingly, not so obvious.
An observation at the right moment can dramatically shift a conversation.
An observation can have this impact more effectively than an opinion.

With an opinion you have taken the additional steps of connecting dots and making sense of something based on your implicit interpretation of reality.
With an observation you allow your interpretation of reality to be considered and elicit thoughtfulness and reflection.
In an opinion the net-new thinking is complete before you speak; in an observation the space for thinking begins when you stop speaking.

Your opinion matters and should be shared.
As a leader, recognizing that if net-new thinking is needed then shifting into observation is useful.
You relinquish control of what dots are connected which simultaneously allows for the previously un-thought-of to emerge.
