Boss
Chances are you would prefer not to be referred to as “boss.”
The term creates a similar distaste as “micromanager.”
In the world of leadership, there is a pervasive, collective fear of being an overbearing manager.
This creates a challenge: it is still your job to hold people accountable.
Overcompensating away from micromanagement results in avoiding important and sometimes difficult conversations.
This creates just as many problems as micromanagement.
You signed up to be a leader.
Do not allow your desire to be liked to interfere with your ability to be effective.
You can do it kindly, but holding accountability is your responsibility.
