Testing

Constant testing will degrade performance over time.
It inhibits capacity for learning and adaptation.
This is true in both physiological and cognitive scenarios.

Conversely, exclusively practicing without testing will stagnate performance.
An element of challenge must exist to test and apply learned capacities.
Reading a book is good practice, but without testing through applying the knowledge, performance remains unaffected.

Your team will gravitate towards testing or practicing.
As a leader, your job is to intervene with the approach that is needed rather than comfortable.
When performance lags, consider whether testing or practice is needed.
