Searching

If you are searching for a pen, you do not continue after finding a pen.

The purpose of searching is to find something.

Continuing to search once that purpose is fulfilled is counterintuitive.

In the case of a pen, this is not problematic.

In the case of a solution, it is problematic.

The real problem is you are designed to stop searching once you find a solution.

This is the dilemma of leadership.

Leaders are accountable for finding great solutions and finding them expeditiously.

These two accountabilities can be mutually exclusive.

The first solution is rarely the best.

Thoughtful leaders respond quickly but solve iteratively.

The moment you think you have found the solution, you have created space for a new problem.
