Degeneracy
Let us bust a myth about the brain.
You may have heard that particular areas of the brain, or pathways, are exclusively responsible for specific cognitive function.
For example, the amygdala likely exists central to your lexicon around emotional regulation.
The process of degeneracy disrupts that train of thought.
Degeneracy is your brain’s ability to leverage different neurological pathways to accomplish cognitive processes.
While one area or pathway within the brain may often be correlated to a process, this certainly does not mean it to always be true.
Leadership mimics the brain.
While one approach may be common and popular, being absolute is a fallible endeavour.
Degeneracy, within leadership, is your ability to achieve performance using unique or unconventional pathways.
Your brain is teaching you a lesson.
Your ability to adapt is greater than your ability to get it right.
