Cliché

"We are currently experiencing a higher volume of calls, thank you for your patience."

There are two problems with this statement.

First, it is cliché; second, it has nothing to do with you.

When you call most service lines, you expect this statement.

It alleviates nothing and gives you no worthwhile information.

The problem with most clichés is, despite their truth, they offer no useful value.

Leaders often make this mistake.

They offer clichés rather than communicating a riskier, more intimate message.

Clichés are safe and lack original thought.

Original thought is integral to leadership.

Thoughtful leaders find a way to contextualize beyond the expected.
