Causal

Highly intelligent people tend to marry less intelligent people.
This is statistically accurate.
Your brain automatically develops its own narrative rationalizing why this must be true.

Your mind is oriented to find causal explanations.
It does not automatically stop to consider that the reverse is equally true.
Highly unintelligent people tend to marry more intelligent people.

When your data set is binary, the likelihood of both intelligence levels being exactly equal is less likely than every other possible combination.
A relatively simple statistic, when conveyed in a specific format, leaves room for your brain to generate a causal explanation.
Simply knowing a statistic is insufficient.

When conveying data, be aware of the assumed correlations and causations that unconsciously emerge.
As a leader, your job is to challenge and explore the various perspectives that emerge when presenting data and making decisions.
