Attention

Imagine walking into a dark room.

In order to see, you turn on a flashlight.

This is how attention works within your brain.

The flashlight illuminates an area to be seen.

Some areas remain dark.

Attention, like a flashlight, is designed to enable specific focus.

Imagine continuously moving the flashlight rapidly around the closet.

This may work for a dance party.

It is not ideal for attention.

You cannot see anything if you do not give it time to be illuminated.

Your brain does not have flood lights.
